Born in Lyon, Benjamin discovered sailing through his judo teacher who encouraged his students to discover other sports, including sailing dinghies in the Mediterranean. It was a revelation for Benjamin, who became obsessed with the sport and went on to study geology as the free periods allowed him the, opportunity to sail as much as possible. Benjamin began sailing sport-boats and 30-40ft monohulls, then quickly moved to more ambitious projects, such as the SFS and the Dongfeng racing team. He added to his skills by taking responsibility for the electronics and navigation systems on board.
