The holder of a Master in Nautical Sciences degree from Belgium’s Maritime Academy of Antwerp, Pieter’s early sporting enthusiasm was demonstrated as a hockey player when he was twice a national champion and selected for the Belgian under-16 National Youth Team.

Fluent in Dutch, English and French — he lived and worked in France for six years — he has assembled an impressive racing CV, most recently as bowman on the maxi-trimaran Sails of Change (previously Spindrift) on two Atlantic crossings and trimmer on the T35 Spindrift. He also brings extensive additional skills in rigging and essential hardware.
